Platinum Dance and Dance West competitive lines are intended for the serious dancer with a desire to compete and work in a team environment. Placements are based on skill level and age, following a mandatory audition process. Our lines compete at three local competitions each year and we have a rotating Nationals Competition Schedule.

Our competitive program is technique driven, focusing on the traditional styles of ballet, tap and jazz. Dancers participate in multiple ballet and technique classes, as well as choreography.

Our Competition Teams dance all year round! Summer training is imperative to personal development and growth for the upcoming season. Every camp is based on proper technique, strength and training.

Dance West | Wayzata

In order to be on the Competition Team, dancers MUST audition.

Competition Team Auditions | PreK – 3rd Grade

• August 21 – 24, 2023 | 9:00 – 11:30a

Performance Team is designed to provide additional performance opportunities in a non-competitive environment. We’ve expanded our class times to focus on both technique & choreography in one class – our Performance Team program is a weekly commitment of 1x per week (for 1 – 1.25 hours). This means additional classes are optional. Recreational classes are a great addition to performance.

We will take a personalized approach for each dancer. For example, if a dancer wants to prepare for competition, we would recommend tap, jazz & ballet classes. If a dancer wants to learn a second/third style, a hip-hop, musical theater or acro class would be a great addition. 

There are multiple teams within the Performance Team program that are split up by age:

Platinum Dance:

• Ages 5 – 7
• Ages 7 – 9
• Ages 10+

Dance West:

• Ages 5 – 7
• Ages 8 – 10
• Ages 11+

We have performed at Gopher basketball games, Timberwolves games, Mall of America, the Edina Invitational, Hopkins Showcase, Edina Tree Lighting Ceremony and more! The final performance schedule will be determined at a later date and given to families after auditions this summer.
